This demo shows how you can quickly create a GIS web application by using ESRI Javascript API and ArcGIS online resources. The demo focuses on how you can host the basic viewer template JavaScript on your own ArcGIS Server, how to create your custom Finder tool by using your own Geocoder geoprocessing service, which can accurately locate address/place and also save money (don’t use ArcGIS Online credit). 1. Sign in your ArcGIS Online subscription If you don’t have an ArcGIS Online subscription, you can register an ESRI global account, and apply for an ArcGIS Online 30-day trial subscription 2. Create an ArcGIS Online web map by using ESRI online template (i.e. basicviewer), and give the access to the map to everyone Because later I will show how to host the basicviewer JavaScript on my own ArcGIS Server, it’s better to do as many configurations as possible from ArcGIS Online.
