Video Transcript IBM Worklight – Part of the IBM MobileFirst portfolio Hi, I’m Dave Arnold from IBM’s WebSphere team. I’m here to introduce you to IBM Worklight, which is part of IBM’s MobileFirst portfolio of software and services. IBM MobileFirst offers you a true end-to-end mobile solution. It has everything you need for mobile app development and testing, as well as management, security and analytics. So let’s take a look at how IBM Worklight fits into this picture. Let’s assume your business has been asked to build, manage and run an app. It could be for business-to-business business-to-consumer or business-to-employee purposes. So, where do you start? Well, you start by establishing a Mobile App Development Platform and that’s where IBM Worklight comes in. It’s an open, mobile app platform that allows you to create rich, cross-platform apps. There is no need for code translation, proprietary interpreters, or unpopular scripting languages. You can use IBM Worklight to develop, run and manage HTML 5, Hybrid and Native apps. This is achieved via standards-based tools and technologies, mobile-optimised middleware, a variety of security mechanisms and integrated management and analytics. Covering every aspect of mobile app delivery from Design and Runtime to Management and Distribution. IBM Worklight offers great time-saving benefits. The Worklight Studio is an integrated development and test environment where developers perform all their design and integration tasks to create fully operational apps. The Worklight Server runtime functions as a gateway between apps, back-end systems and cloud-based services, while the Worklight Device Runtime provides the client side access to native device functionality. Then there’s the Web-based Worklight Console. It provides the admin interface for your Server, Apps and Push Services. Finally, we have the Worklight Application Center, a cross-platform, private app store. Use it to create your own app store, based on the requirements of your organisation. So — if you’ve already published your first mobile app or if you’re just starting out, you’ll need to establish a Mobile Application Development Platform like IBM Worklight. Many companies around the world are using Worklight to great benefit already. For example, one of the world’s leading credit card companies recently starting using a Worklight Hybrid App Model. As a result they have seen a ten-fold increase in app development productivity. The company now supports two additional device platforms, and can deliver app updates directly, without going through vendor app stores. Another example is a global tyre manufacturer. Within three weeks of introducing Worklight, they produced beta versions of two hybrid mobile apps across three platforms. These are just a few of the exciting
